Moody Foodie

14 Ramadan 1441

Ever since I was a kid, whenever any of us—me, my dad, any of my siblings—were in a bad mood, my mom would say, “Oh, you’re just hungry.”

And that would just make us lose our minds.

Like, I would go from just moody to HOW DARE YOU NOT ACKNOWLEDGE MY VERY REAL, LEGITIMATE FEELINGS ABOUT THESE VERY TERRIBLE THINGS HAPPENING IN THE WORLD. IN MY LIFE. IN MY MIND. DONT GASLIGHT ME.

Then she’d put a plate of good food in front of us.

We’d scarf it down.

And we would become exemplary models of zen again.

But she’s still wrong.
